A Happy New Year

A Happy New Year to all our supporters and campaigners for Changing Places toilets across the UK and beyond. 2012 was a great year for the campaign and we now approach the 500 landmark for Changing Places registration.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games were a real highlight for all of us and raised the need for Changing Places toilets on the national and international stage. We are currently working with the developers of the Olympic Queen Elizabeth Park in Stratford to make sure there is a Changing Places legacy which will see at least 7 Changing Places in the park and in Westfield Stratford.

We registered two Changing Places in Jersey this year, the first outside of the UK and a new facility is soon to be registered in Melbourne, Australia.

Last year the Giants Causeway in Northern Ireland opened their new visitor’s centre with a Changing Places toilet and there are now Changing Places at all main parliament buildings in the UK. Our campaigning at airports has seen an increase in the amount of new facilities at Gatwick, Newcastle, Birmingham, and East Midland Airports. We also registered our first Changing Places at a supermarket, ASDA in Sheffield.

Changing Places toilets are now available in train stations at Kings Cross, Paddington, Swansea and at Eurotunnel in Folkestone which won the Changing Places Loo of the Year Award for England at their 25th anniversary event. Aviemore Community School won for Scotland and Garwnant Visitor Centre in Merthyr Tydfil won for Wales.

We would like to thank all our supporters and campaigners for making sure the Changing Places campaign will go from strength to strength in 2013.
